Newcomers Chris Bran and Justin Chubb wrote and star in This is Jinsy, an eight-part sitcom due to start on Sky Atlantic on Monday 19 September 2011. The show is set on the fictional island of Jinsy and comprises surreal sketches and catchy songs. It has cult written all over it.
The island is governed by Maven (played by Justin Chubb) and his assistant Sporall (played by Chris Bran) who are based in the Great Tower and enforce the will of The Great He to keep the 791 islanders in check. In the style of George Orwell’s 1984, the islanders are constantly monitored by a surveillance system of 1067 tessellators.
Among the islanders are weather monk Tracee Henge (played by David Hatton), lawyer Trince (played by Geoff McGivern) and local gossip Mrs Goadion (played by Janine Duvitski). And watch out for local celebrity and camp wedding planner Mr Slightlyman, played by David Tennant.
