Southwest Wisconsin Realty

Botham Vineyards, located 30 miles west of Madison, Wisconsin, in the wavy pastures of Iowa County, was established in 1989 by Peter Botham. This peaceable, friendly locale combines the very best elements of southwestern Wisconsin: agriculture, nature, and fresh bounty. Madison native Peter Botham worked at a vineyard and winery in northern Maryland, where he decided to pursue a life of viticulture – the scientific discipline, cultivation, and study of grapes.

Botham Vineyards, Award-Winning Wisconsin Wines

Designed and constructed as a dairy farm in the early 1900s, the essence of the property was given new purpose and mission as a winery more than nine decades later. Botham Winery's pristine location of gently sloping pastures is an attractive relaxant. In 1990, Peter Botham moved to Wisconsin from Maryland, permanently. Two years later, the first crop was gathered and sold to another local winery. By 1993, the winery had been suitably prepared for production; grapes from that season’s yield became the wine sampled in the tasting room opening in the summer of 1994.
